Real Wedding: Hannah and Chuck at Charlotte City Club

Top: Chuck Chronis, an account manager with Liberty Mutual, and Hannah Dockery, an editor at South Charlotte Weekly, and a writer and editor at Charlotte Wedding, met while attending and leading Young Life. “I had a big crush on him from day one,” laughs the bride, adding that it took Chuck a little longer to get on board. They started dating at UNC Chapel Hill, and he ultimately proposed to his bride one snowy night at Windy Gap. Bottom: Hannah chose her fit and flare Modern Trousseau gown from Hayden Olivia.

As a writer for Charlotte Wedding, Hannah Chronis knows how easy it is to get caught up in wedding details, but she says, “At the end of day, I just wanted to marry Chuck.” Focusing instead on the ceremony, they planned a wedding that reflected them as couple and celebrated the way God brought them together and works in their lives. Having met through Young Life, led high school groups together, and even becoming engaged in the snow at Windy Gap, they were delighted to include their Young Life Area Director, Daniel Peterson, who injected a few comedic moments into an otherwise reverent wedding.

Within walking distance, guests sipped champagne at the Charlotte City Club and piqued their appetites with crabcakes, baked brie, mac and cheese bites, and short-rib sliders. A jazz duo played, while the bride and groom fortified themselves with a private supper, before greeting guests during the seated dinner of filet mignon and stuffed chicken with twice-baked potatoes. With gold chiavari chairs, enormous banks of flowers and elegant candles, the dining room sparkled and invited guests onto the dance floor with music by Split Second Sound. A joyous sparkler exit sent the newlyweds off on their autumn honeymoon to Newport, Rhode Island.
