Real Wedding: Kristen & Paul
September 28, 2013: Quail Hollow Club

This warm and witty pair met at work—Paul Colavita is a general surgery resident and Kristen Privett is a pediatric nurse. Their fall wedding at Quail Hollow Club could not have been more perfect, with bald eagles soaring over the ceremony, gold and ivory décor, and a cozy fire lit in each of the club’s fireplaces. But as much as they adore each other, they wanted their wedding to be mostly about one thing: fun.
Following their ceremony, while guests enjoyed cocktails on the patio, the newlyweds shared dinner in the library with their wedding party before joining the reception. An early supper gave the bride and groom time to visit with friends and family during the lavish seated dinner of filet mignon, chicken piccata, asparagus, and mashed potatoes.
For their first dance, Kristen and Paul did a rhumba to Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together,” choreographed by Queen City Ballroom. Their band, the Tyrone Smith Revue, also performed at Jenna Bush’s wedding reception and a George W. Bush inaugural ball. Lead singer Mr. Smith changed into his signature Super T costume, with a cape and full suit with a “T” across his chest. “We wanted a fun band, good food, and atmosphere,” laughs Kristen. “Everyone is still talking about it!”
