Return Game

Jim Courier brings his tournament—the one he co-founded and happened to win last year—back to Charlotte for another swing. And it’s back with a few improvements. As part of the Outback Champions Series, The Championships at The Palisades returns to the Tom Wilkinson Signature Tennis and Sport Complex, which has 350 additional seats and an expanded VIP area. Oh, and did we mention Courier enticed the winner of fourteen Grand Slam titles and recent International Tennis Hall of Fame inductee Pete Sampras to play this year?

“We’ve been wanting Pete for as long as we’ve had the idea [for the tournament],” Courier says. “It’s a big deal for us to have him onboard.”

Swedish superstar Mats Wilander has also committed, bringing with him eight Grand Slam titles.
