Ritz-y Holiday Events

Giant trees made of cookies, sugar reindeer, pies and more pies, plus turkey time

As we all scramble to get our holiday lists put together, find the perfect turkey, and debate whether or not it's worth it to stand in line on Black Friday, the Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte is preparing to unveil a host of holiday festivities that will take your mind off all the hustle and bustle, at least for a few hours.

First off, November 23-30, Bar Cocoa will offer seasonal pies like pumpkin, sweet potato, and pecan for you to take home and enjoy. Pre-ordering is required at 704-972-4397.

On November 26, the holiday tree at the Ritz-Carlton will be unveiled. Before you jump to the conclusion that this tree is pretty much like every other tree, let me inform you that not only is it 8-feet tall, but made entirely of FRENCH MACARONS OH MY GOD. The giant happiness cookie tree will be in the lobby next to a four-foot sleigh made of all sugar, pulled by delicious chocolate reindeer. The tree will stay in the lobby until December 29.

On November 28, BLT Steak restaurant will have Thanksgiving hours from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. along with a $68 prix fixe menu and a children's menu priced at $12.95.

Lastly, on November 30, the Ritz-Carlton will host a Holiday Afternoon Tea from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at $32 per adult and $12 per child 11 and younger. The traditional event will be presented in the hotel's Urban Sip and will include special holiday sweets along with connoisseur teas, finger sandwiches, Ritz-Carlton scones, and an assortment of treats from Bar Cocoa. A children's menu will also be available. Reserve at 704-547-2244.

So, now you have no excuses to be in a bad mood this holiday season. If a giant tree made of macarons doesn't make you happy, I just don't know what will.
