Robin Pinheiro, a pediatric nurse with Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, and Jonathan Hinderliter, an electrical engineer with Duke Energy, have been best friends since high school. The pair began dating long-distance in college, and after five years together, Jonathan proposed at the top of the SkyWheel in Myrtle Beach on their annual birthday trip.
The bride and groom exchanged handwritten vows; the couple read each other’s vows while they were getting ready. “They were too personal to read aloud,” says Robin.
Father Matthew Codd officiated the ceremony at St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville. “I was so nervous, I kept squeezing Jonathan’s hand,” says Robin, who trembled throughout the traditional Mass while her brother sang, and they lit their unity candle. Amid a sea of candles and lit fireplaces at The Peninsula Club in Cornelius, guests enjoyed the bride’s favorite shrimp cocktail along with pork barbecue sliders and Brie with cranberries and watched a slideshow of the bride and groom. The club served a buffet of prime rib, pasta, salmon, and salad before the bride and groom smashed dessert—a decadent white cake with raspberry filling—into each other’s faces.
All the Right Grooves played Keith Urban’s “Only You Can Love Me This Way” for the bride and groom before she danced with her grandfather (as she’d promised her grandmother) to their favorite song, “Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman” by Bryan Adams. The newlyweds joined friends for a late night at the Rusty Rudder before jetting off to honeymoon in Montego Bay.
