Room We Love

DRAPES

Start with something big and build from there. “My goal starting out was to have some dramatic punches of color in the space, and it all started with these chevron drapes.”

CHANDELIER

Don’t neglect lighting—it can be a statement maker. “The chandelier is the most recent addition. It’s a knockoff of a Jean Royere [that she snagged from Las Ramblas restaurant when it closed] and I love the way it grabs your attention.”

RUG

Don’t be afraid of some rug-on-rug action. “I layered a Moroccan Beni rug over my existing carpet, which broke up the monotony of the wall-to-wall carpet.”

TABLE

Use a contrasting color to anchor the space. “I thought this table really helped to ground the center of the room because of its dark color. It’s also made from 100 percent recycled material.”

SOFA

Keep color minimal on the largest items. “I knew the space needed a simple sofa since I didn’t want it to dominate in such a small area. But it’s the perfect size for my fiancé and me to sprawl out on a lazy Sunday.”
