Run for Your Life

The summer's coolest race is also the messiest

Attention all thrill seekers: training day has come. For the first time, the Warrior Dash—a hellish 3.08-mile race—will be in North Carolina on August 27 and 28 (other cities such as Philly and D.C. host a race each year). This isn’t your ordinary road race. Participants will have to negotiate obstacles, such as jumping over fire pits and crawling through mud, in this American Gladiator–meets–Survivor competition. At the end, runners can unwind with turkey legs, beer, and live music. Just remember: mud and sweat are the marks of a true warrior. Rural Hill Farm, 4431 Neck Rd., Huntersville, warriordash.com
