South End’s Up to Par
Practice your swing on your lunch break
A PGA golf course in the middle of South End? Yes, virtually. You'll find it at the egolf Center of Charlotte, a state-of-the-art golfing facility. Egolf is a private club that offers everything from personal bays where golfers can perfect their swing to a simulator that re-creates golf courses from around the world.
The club offers personalized instruction from Scott Lafevre, one of only two master PGA professionals in North Carolina. Lafevre’s motto is "Practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice does." Indeed, some of the nation's top players have trained here, including the UNC-Charlotte men's golf team, which has been ranked as high as number one in the country, and even a Nextel Cup champion or two.
Egolf caters to Charlotte's brand of businessman-golfer (the center boasts a full bar and often plays host to evening cocktail parties), but also claims national recognition thanks to its recent partnership with the Amateur Golf Tour. Egolf also has plans to start a Developmental Tour for professionals as a stepping stone to the PGA. For more details, go to www.egolf.com .
