Spa in the Sky

The lap pool on the top floor of the Ritz-Carlton is saline-treated and features windows facing south and west toward uptown and beyond.

It makes sense that the luxury spa at the country’s first eco-friendly, LEED-certified Ritz-Carlton would only offer products that won’t damage the environment.

Located on the top floor of the new uptown hotel, the wellness center includes four treatment rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows with dramatic city views. The 13,000-square-foot center (it includes lounges, pool, fitness center, and steam rooms) features contemporary décor and offers signature treatments like a 120-minute Drift to Sleep massage ($240), designed to help you sleep (it includes a nap at the end).

What may become its most popular offering though is the Re-Nourish Lunch Break Escape ($60 or $90), a treatment lasting twenty-five or fifty minutes and including a healthful spa lunch with your choice of two or four mini treatments such as a foot scrub or targeted massage. Not a bad way to spend your midday break. 201 E. Trade St., 704-547-2244
