Spot It, Find It
Finding the coolest accessories and home goods in Charlotte
After shooting the Hevey home last summer, a few staffers (myself included) fell in love with the light fixture hanging in the dining room. The piece is layered in tiers of creamy white Japanese paper etched in black script with various poems, quotes, and symbolic words. The paper is illuminated by a single bulb providing not only a subtle warmth to a room but also an interesting conversation piece.
It wasn’t long after that I spotted the same cool fixture in the dining room at Cantina 1511 on East Boulevard. I was on a mission. Turns out, the piece, entitled Zettel’z 6, is by German artist Ingo Maurer.
I found it in two Charlotte locations: Modern Lighting Design Showroom in South End ($1,100) and at Metro Lighting in Dilworth ($1,200). The best part: you can customize it. For the smaller version, the Zettel’z 5, you receive thirty-one printed and forty-nine blank paper sheets. And while I haven’t quite found the money, er, time to buy the gorgeous hanging light, I still find myself coveting it every time I eat at Cantina.
