Start Them Young: Village Tavern Hosts Charity Breakfast for Kids

This kid-friendly seasonal celebration combines good deeds, gingerbread houses, and a hot breakfast. What more could you want?

When the first Village Tavern opened in Winston-Salem in 1984, the idea was simple: Serve the best-possible food at affordable prices, using only the finest ingredients, and make a positive difference in surrounding communities. The SouthPark Village Tavern (4201 Congress Street) has continued with this mission and culture since opening in 1989.

The scratch-kitchen restaurant is spreading the holiday cheer this season with a breakfast event that makes it simple for you—and the kids—to help others in the Charlotte community and beyond.

On Saturday, December 1, from 8 to 11 a.m., bring the family out to Village Tavern (at the corner of Barclay Downs Drive and Morrison Boulevard) for a fun-filled morning of gingerbread house building and a tasty breakfast. The reservation-only event will cost $25 per child and include a breakfast and a gingerbread house to build. Adults eat free with the purchase of children’s tickets. There will also be $5 mimosas, Bloody Marys, and screwdrivers available for brunch-lovers. All of the proceeds will go to CORE (Children of Restaurant Employees), which exists to help children of food and beverage service workers that are navigating life-altering circumstances.

“We believe we have a duty and a responsibility to our employees, our customers, and our communities,” a representative from the SouthPark Village Tavern says. “We feel that CORE is one way we can contribute, as it is an organization that supports Children of Restaurant Employees. We work hard to create an environment that is welcoming to all and consider our employees and our customers as members of our extended family. We wanted to create an event that would give our customers a reason to gather with their loved ones and allow us to all give to our communities.”

Take the family to Village Tavern this December to make a difference and have fun while doing it. This is the first year Village Tavern is hosting the event—but the team hopes it will be a lasting tradition.
