Style Profile: Jessica Hood

Known for her impeccable styling, native Charlottean Jessica Hood has quickly become an authority figure when it comes to fashion.  Hood, who boasts a fusion of bohemian-chic, studied fashion at both the University of South Carolina and the Paris Fashion Institute. Since 2008, she has been working in women’s apparel and interior design in Charlotte. Here she shares with us some things about herself as well as some of her thoughts on the current trends.

Where do you get your inspiration?

I like to  look through magazines and see how celebrities are dressing, but mostly, I just people watch.

Do you have a fashion icon?

Yes, my mother! She’s always just been effortless chic. She knows what looks good on and what doesn’t. She never tries to adhere to trends.

How would you describe your wardrobe?

Well it depends. During the spring/summer, I dress very bohemian-like with easy, flowy pieces along with chunky jewelry and other layers. I love layers. In the fall, I dress more classic with blazers and boots.

Where do you enjoy shopping in Charlotte?

ChezElle, Coral, and Neiman Marcus

Who are your favorite designers?

Calypso, Diane Von Furstenburg, Isabel Marant, and Tucker

What trends have you noticed this summer?

Right now, I’ve seen a lot of long maxi dresses, A-line skirts, chunky wedges, and high-waisted, wide-leg jeans.

What trends are you excited about for fall?

Boots! Boots with dresses, boots with everything!
