With Memorial Day in the rearview mirror, summer might as well be officially in full swing. It certainly feels like it in Charlotte this weekend with a white party, Taste of Charlotte, a booze cruise, a low country boil and more. See y’all out there!

 

Thursday, June 9

Go Red Girls Night Out

Go out with the girls tonight to benefit the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign. The Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse hosts this evening of shoe shopping, cocktails and heavy appetizers. The free evening runs from 6 until 8 at 2408 South Blvd.

 

Transatlantic Toast

Add a worldly flair to your evening as International House hosts this networking mixer with visiting entrepreneurs from across the globe. Bring your business cards and get ready to mingle. The networking event, which features complimentary appetizers, starts at Sullivan’s Steakhouse, 1928 South Blvd., at 6 p.m. There is no admission fee.

Taste of Charlotte

The annual three-day food festival is back, and it always has something for everyone. With more than 100 different foods to sample from local restaurants, live entertainment, children’s areas and more, Taste of Charlotte has become almost a signal of the approaching summer. The festival that runs until Sunday is free, but you have to purchase special festival coins to sample foods. If you purchases online, a large cup of 15 coins costs about $22. Taste of Charlotte runs on Tryon Street in Uptown from Stonewall to Fifth. For more information on hours, participating restaurants and to purchase coins, visit here. 

 

Bank of America Uptown Pops

If Taste of Charlotte isn’t enough for you, you’re in luck. The Bank of America Uptown Pops symphony concert returns this year – complete with a food truck rally before the concert. The food truck rally begins at 5:30 p.m. at Romare Bearden Park, 300 S. Church St., followed by the free concert at 8:15 p.m.

 

All-White Party

Welcome summer with your best white wardrobe tonight. The party is at La Revolucion, 900 N.C. Music Factory Blvd., starting at 10 p.m. Hi, summer. We’ve been waiting for you. Buy tickets for about $11 here. 

 

 

Saturday, June 11

Crown Town Throwdown

Join the folks at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery as this event tries to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most teams concurrently playing in a corn hole tournament. Registration begins at 11 a.m. at 4150 Yancey Road, and the tournament begins at noon. Tickets for a two-person team cost $80 and include four beers, two lunches and two T-shirts. The ‘80s Cruise

Take both a trip back in time and a cruise around the lake today as you bask in all your summer glory. Throw on your best ‘80s costume and be ready to dance all night to the tunes of the ‘80s. A $30 ticket gets you on board and includes appetizers on the boat. Boarding starts at 10:15 p.m. with the boat leaving at 10:45 p.m. from Lady of the Lake – Queens Landing, 1459 River Highway in Mooresville. Buy tickets here. 

 

Crawfish for Cancer Low Country Boil

A $65 ticket buys you five hours of unlimited crawfish, beer and Firefly spirits today at this charity event that benefits the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Live music will, of course, also be on hand. The boil gets underway at Fountain Plaza at the Music Factory from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Buy tickets here. 

 

Sunday, June 12

‘90s Brunch

Get your Scrunchies out and prepare for a whole lot of Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys to take your brunch up a notch. Brunch is served at Draught, 601 S. Cedar St., from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Obviously, ‘90s attire is encouraged.
