Technology and Tapas

Birkdale Village just got a little more tech savvy with the new restaurant T1 Tapas (8625-C Lindholm Dr., Huntersville, 704-895-4373). Small Bites

Bruce Moffett, the owner of Barrington's, opens Good Food on Montford (1701 Montford Dr.) this month. The menu features creative small plates using many local ingredients. Moffett's brother, Kerry Moffett, is the head chef for the restaurant, cooking up dishes like stuffed quail with foie gras and truffles and handmade pastas. Prices will range from $6 to $14 per dish.

Dan Morgan's Dining

This month former Panthers linebacker Dan Morgan will open two restaurants in The Village at Robinson Farm in south Charlotte. Cheese Mo'z will serve coal-fired pizzas, pastas, wings, sandwiches, and salads, and will offer a full bar. Morgan also paired with The Barfly Group, a local restaurant consulting company, to open Sweet T's Diner (8430 Rea Rd., Ste. 100), which will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner with traditional diner food.

Sup at the Silos

The Silos Subdistrict has announced two new restaurants opening soon. LOCAL (125 Remount Rd., localdivebar.com), owned by Eric Pliner, will be in an old warehouse space and promises to be a laid-back evening spot. Look for upscale pub food like Kobe sliders and unique pizzas at the small neighborhood bar, which will be open from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. seven days a week. Also opening soon is CHOW (125 Remount Rd.), the newest burger spot from J. D. Duncan, owner of Bonterra and Mac's Speed Shop.

Classic Diner

Offering everything from braised brisket to Vietnamese spring rolls, Big View Diner and Lounge is an upscale, free-standing diner opening in Ballantyne this month. The diner, owned by Stratos Lambos and Angelo Kaltsounis, owners of Nolen Kitchen and ilios noche, will have a sports bar area and patio. Have a craving for something sweet? The new restaurant will feature a milkshake station with homemade ice creams, as well as an on-site bakery where Frank Kaltsounis will prepare desserts for all of the group's restaurants.
