The Eagle Food & Beer Hall, a popular Cincinnati-based restaurant known for its fried chicken and southern comfort food, opened at Atherton Mill on Friday, January 22. This marks the Thunderdome Restaurant Group’s second concept in the Charlotte market; they opened Bakersfield Tacos in 2014.

The star of the menu is their house-brined, hand-dredged fried chicken, which comes with a side of house made hot honey. Order it as a fried chicken sandwich or fried chicken BLT, or add it to any salad. Sides include spoonbread, mac & cheese, and collards. There’s also a selection of bar snacks like brown sugar bacon, a pimento cheese plate, and corn and jalapeno hushpuppies with a side of comeback sauce. Kids have their choice of grilled cheese and mac & cheese.

The drink menu features a rotation of seasonal and local brews on tap; red, white, and sparkling wines; and an extensive bourbon list. Cocktails include the Maple Bacon Old Fashioned, Eagle Iced Tea, and Bourbon Punch. Grab a stool at the U-shaped bar on game day and watch from multiple flatscreens, or settle into a booth in the dining area, which has seating for about 100. Additional seating for 20 will be available on the patio in the coming weeks.
