Since looking sleek and coiffed is always in style, frizzy hair is every woman’s archenemy. This fall, eliminate bad hair days with a smoothing thermal treatment.

Varji & Varji

Stylist Brooke Underwood at Varji & Varji applies straightening chemicals to a client. The cost for the frizz-free coif? A cool $750.
Before a thermal treatment can be administered at Max Varji’s posh salon, stylist Brooke Underwood performs a complimentary strand test, which reveals the hair’s texture, level of curl, and how it’ll react to the straightening chemicals. From there, Underwood chooses from five strength levels for a Japanese thermal treatment (starting at $750). The lowest level acts as a frizz eliminator while the highest level creates a pin-straight look from root to tip. Touch-up treatments start at $550.

Euphoria Salon and Spa
Using the Liscio line (the original straightening product from Japan), the experienced stylists of Euphoria were the first to bring the Japanese thermal technique to Charlotte back in 2002. The salon recommends prepping hair with a conditioning treatment ($45) to counteract damage before the thermal chemicals are applied. After processing the hair, the stylist dries and flat irons the customer’s hair. A neutralizing treatment locks the product in, keeping hair sleek for weeks.

Modern Salon and Spa
The stylists here offer the popular Japanese thermal treatment (prices based on a consultation). After the product is applied and hair is dried and straightened, your locks can’t be washed or even pulled back for five days while the treatment sets. Expect the in-salon process to take from four to six hours to complete, but you’ll leave with your hair smooth and flyaway free.
