This Weekend in Charlotte (Dec. 20-22): Colors of Christmas, Acoustic Syndicate & Charlotte Children's Choir

It's the only season with a recurring soundtrack.
The sounds of the holidays can be found on the radio, TV, and even your own doorstep. And below, you'll see which Charlotte venues also feature those familiar tunes ahead of the big day.
But this weekend also features touring bands and events outside of the Christmas genre. Check it all out below.
Friday
COLORS OF CHRISTMAS
Offering their respective hits and seasonal classics, performers Ruben Studdard, Melissa Manchester, CeCe Winans, and Peabo Bryson come to Knight Theater for two nights. Starting at $54.50, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Knight Theater, 430 S. Tryon St.
ACOUSTIC SYNDICATE
It’s no shock that a band named “Acoustic Syndicate” uses acoustic instruments. The surprise comes with how they use them. Complex techniques and three-part harmonies are no strangers to the N.C. folk act. $15-$17, 9 p.m. Visulite Theatre, 1615 Elizabeth Ave.
CLARA’S TRIP: A NUTCRACKER STORY
This version of the classic Nutcracker plot not only sees Clara as an adult, but it also adds the literal spin of aerial dancing, as it’s presented by Caroline Calouche & Co. $35-$45, 7 p.m. Friday; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday. Booth Playhouse, 130 N. Tryon St.
TWELFTH NIGHT
Chickspeare, the Queen City's all-female Shakespeare group, presents this version of the classic comedic tale, which continues through Saturday. $25, 7:30 p.m. Actor's Theatre of Charlotte, 650 E Stonewall St.

CHRISTMAS WITH CHARLOTTE CHILDREN’S CHOIR & CHARLOTTE BRONZE
Tim Waugh arranges a selection of Christmas tunes performed by the Charlotte Children’s Choir and Charlotte Bronze, the handbell ensemble of which he was a founding director. $10-$12, 7 p.m. Myers Park Baptist Church, 1931 Selwyn Ave.
SATURDAY NIGHT CINE CLUB: HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
The Charlotte Film Society presents a film that brings viewers to a tiny Norwegian town with interconnecting narratives. The story sees multiple residents trying to make their way home for the holiday. $5 for members, $8 for non-members; 7:30 p.m. Theatre Charlotte, 501 Queens Road.
ERICK BAKER
The singer-songwriter and Knoxville native released his second studio album, Goodbye June, last year. He now brings his Americana style to the Charlotte stage. $10-$12, 10:30 p.m. Evening Muse, 3227 N. Davidson St.
Sunday

Families of Abraham brings together the religions of Christianity, Judaism, and Islamic to explore their roots. Focusing on the figure of Abraham, this historical look brings multiple faiths into focus. Free with admission to the museum. $12 for adults, $10 for kids and seniors. Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sat, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sun, noon-5 p.m. Discovery Place, 301 N. Tryon St.
