Triple C Summer Folk Festival this Saturday

The Triple C Summer Folk Festival is this Saturday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

In February, Triple C (in conjunction with other sponsors) held the inaugural Triple C Folk Festival at the brewery, with Jim Avett headlining a lineup that also included numerous local acts.

The festival, which saw a near-capacity crowd, did so well that the brewery isn’t even waiting a year to put it on again. This Saturday marks the Triple C Summer Folk Festival, featuring Bombadil, River Whyless, Sinners & Saints and Caroline Spence. The festival will run from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and there will also be food trucks on site as well as art for sale and raffles. And of course, Triple C will be pouring beer as well.

Tickets are $15, with proceeds benefiting DrumsForCures. You can purchase tickets in advance via this link or at the door the day of the event. For more information, check out the event’s Facebook page.

In other festival news, Charlotte Oktoberfest recently announced details about the upcoming event, which will be the 16th (also the longest running local beer festival). This year’s Charlotte Oktoberfest will take place September 27 at the N.C. Music Factory. The festival’s organizers have steadily been making brewery announcements on Facebook (Lagunitas is the main sponsor this year), and there will once again be general admission and premier admission (which gets you entry into the festival an hour and a half earlier than everyone else).

Tickets will go on sale this Friday at 11 a.m. and you can purchase them by visiting www.charlotteoktoberfest.com. I’ll have more on Charlotte Oktoberfest (always one of my favorites) as the date grows closer.

Finally, it was announced last week that BB&T Ballpark, home of the ever-popular Charlotte Knights, will put the inaugural Charlotte Beerfest September 20. The big news here is that Blues Traveler will be headlining, and the festival will also showcase music from Simplified and Charity Case (fronted by Ace of Ace & T.J. fame, whose charity, Ace & T.J.’s Grin Kids, will benefit from some of the proceeds).

The brewery list isn’t finalized (the festival is advertising it as more than 100 craft beers being served, including 25 from the Carolinas), but Olde Mecklenburg, D9 and Sugar Creek are among the local participants. Tickets are $50 and on sale now. You can read more about this festival from Daniel Hartis at CharlotteBeer.com or go to the main Web page.
