MINGLE
Alive After Five is making the move to the EpiCentre this week and in case you haven’t stepped outside today, let us just tell you: the weather could not be more perfect for grabbing a drink, listening to this week’s band (Celebration Club), and mingling with your friends—and hundreds of others—in uptown tonight. The high today is 78 degrees people. So, put on your sundresses and khakis and go. Admission is free and drink tickets are $2 a piece. www.aliveafterfiveatepicentre.com
SHOP
When Alexander Wang launched his first full women’s collection in 2007, it was an immediate hit. (Think: “just rolled out off bed” chic style with a hint of the eighties.) Celebs from Nicole Richie to Gwyneth Paltrow dig his relaxed, urban look. This season, his cotton tees and t-shirt dresses are perfect for staying—and looking—cool in the warm weather. Tempted? Well, you’re in luck. Poole shop in Phillips Place is having an Alexander Wang trunk show today through Saturday. www.pooleshop.com
LISTEN
Ok, so getting tickets to this show might be a little tricky/expensive to get at this point. But, if you happen to be able to snag a few, Dave Matthews Band is playing at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on Friday night. And this isn’t just any Dave concert. Local favorites, The Avett Brothers, are opening for him on this tour. So, in summary, you can support your fellow native North Carolinians, listen to great music, and spend time outside in this fabulous weather. Seems like it’s probably worth those expensive tickets now, doesn’t it? www.livenation.com
WATCH
Pull out the pastels, pull on a hat, and pull up to tailgate. The Queens Cup Steeplechase is happening this Saturday. (You’re probably also going to want to lather on the sunscreen: it’s supposed to be in the 80’s this weekend!*) The gates open at 10 a.m. and races go on throughout the afternoon. www.queenscup.org
*We realize that we have made more than a few references to the weather in this blog post. But seriously, have you stepped outside? We’re find that it’s kind of hard to not keep talking about it.
