Weekend Ahead: October 24-26

This weekend’s activities can essentially be grouped into two sections: Halloween and Fashion. Interestingly enough, these are two of our favorite things. It’s going to be a good weekend.

MAKE THE TRADE
Banana Republic and Goodwill have teamed up for BR’s 30% promotion to benefit Goodwill’s Job training program. Take your gently worn sweaters and coats to Banana through October 26 and you get a 30% discount on any of their regularly priced goods (seen above). See how nice that is? You help other people and you get some seriously sweet deals on this season’s fashions? It’s time to start cleaning out the closet. www.goodwill.org

GLOW HEAD-TO-TOE
Harmony Salon and Spa in Blakeney is having their fall head-to-toe glow event this Saturday. The event includes a 30 minute facial, shampoo/style, classic pedicure, and make up application. It’s $135, but requires a $60 reservation fee. And since obviously you’re going to be going out on Saturday for one of the many Halloween celebrations we’re about to mention, this is the perfect way to get yourself looking good for the night. GET TRENDY
Sex and the City’s stylist Rebecca Weinberg will be at Dillards at SouthPark on Saturday at 1 p.m. to host their fall fashion show and give you tips on how to look fashionable this season. Considering she’s styled stars like Jessica Simpson, Christina Aquilera and Chrity Turlington, these are some tips worth hearing. Besides, who can resist a fun Saturday fashion show?

BE SPOOKED
It is time to break out that Halloween costume (you know you’ve been planning it for months). The 24th annual Halloween thriller costume ball is $10 for those in costume and $20 for those without (see? you’re totally making up for that money you spent on all of that face paint.) It’s at The Big Chill at doors open at 8 p.m. on Saturday.

GRAVEYARD PARTY
Pop singer Katy Perry (who apparently kissed a girl) will be headlining this annual hugely popular party at Dixie’s Tavern. Don’t even bother showing up without a costume—and plan on this being a good chance for some amazing people watching. The best costume wins $1,500 so be prepared to see some seriously creative attire. Doors open at 6 p.m. on Saturday and it’s $15 to get in. www.dixiescharlotte.com

DRESS UP
Ok, it’s pretty much guaranteed you’re going to see plenty of those notorious slutty costumes at a Halloween ball called Saints & Sinners where the theme is the heavenly bodies versus the naughties. But, well, that’s half the fun of Halloween parties right? And this one at The Forum offers another prize in the form of $1,000 for the best costume so get creative. Doors open at 9 p.m. on Saturday and it’s $10 to get in. www.charlotteforum.com
