Why are you still single? If you’re over the age of 28 and not in a relationship (let alone not being close to getting married), chances are you get asked that question quite often. And once you cross into your 30s (your parents were likely married with a house full of kids by that age), you’ve been asked about singledom so frequently that you’ve probably come up with a snarky reply. Well, now you can channel that energy into a lively, thought-provoking discussion.

The Great Love Debate has embarked on a 45-city tour, and will stop in Charlotte this Friday, May 16, inviting 100 single men and 100 single women to join in. The evening will feature an interactive discussion and debate on the current state of dating, seeking to answer the question: Why is everyone still single?

The Panelists:

  • Arden McLaughlin, Charlotte lifestyle writer and TV personality (moderator of the event)
  • Laurie Berzack of Carolinas Matchmaker
  • Darshana Hawks, “Dr. Dar,” WCCB News Rising dating specialist and relationship success expert
  • Jarvis Holliday (yours truly), journalist and nightlife/social scene blogger
  • Brian Howie, renowned women’s coach and author of How to Find Love in 60 Seconds
  • Ellen Smoak, relationship expert, media personality, and author of Breakups Are a Bitch
  • Bridgette Wright, style and confidence expert and editor-in-chief of CharlotteSTYLE magazine

The debate takes place at Duke Energy Theatre at Spirit Square (345 N. College St.), and show time is 8 p.m. Tickets are $40, and will only be sold in advance; no tickets will be sold at the door. Attendees will also receive admission to the Meet, Greet, Mix, Mingle & Match party, which immediately follows the debate.
