Chrissie Zullo

At only twenty-three, artist Chrissie Zullo is making her mark on the world of comics. In three years, the UNCC grad has gone from fan to featured artist signing copies of DC Comics’ Cinderella: From Fabletown with Love at this year’s Comic-Con International. It was at Comic-Con 2008 that Zullo’s soft fantasy-driven artwork caught the eye of an editor for Vertigo, one of DC Comic’s imprints. Fast forward a year later and the SouthPark-based artist has published her first of six covers for Cinderella, a spinoff of Vertigo’s popular Fables series. “People who know me know I always wanted to do art,” says Zullo, who discovered American comics in college. Next up from Zullo: Madame Xanadu No. 26 (out now), which Zullo drew the interior art for and is also one of five sensory-themed issues designed by female artists.
