Enjoy the adrenaline that comes with being suspended 130 feet above the treetops during a half-day zip lining trip to La Souciere Mountain in St. Lucia. During the forty-five-minute gondola ride up the mountain, your guide will offer commentary on the rain forest’s lush flora. Once at the top, you’ll find ten zip lines that range from a short, ten-second scoot to a much longer, twenty-five-second line. (Just remember to keep your eyes open; otherwise you’ll miss the great scenery.) For those who visit St. Lucia from June through November, expect a wet zip line experience during the rainy season.
Where to Stay
Calabash Cove is a high-end boutique property. Splurge on one of the water’s edge cottages, which boast private infinity pools and outdoor showers with sunset views. Rooms from $320 per night. For the pennywise, try Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa, which sits on the gorgeous Reduit Beach. For the family, opt for the oceanview deluxe room, which connects to a kitchen area and adjacent twin suite. Rooms from $157 per night.
Need More Adventure?
Piton Hike: Block out at least half your day to hike the Gros Piton volcano. A guide will lead you to the top, where the views of St. Lucia are undeniably the best in the country. Book through your resort. From $145 per person.
Boat Ride: Make like Johnny Depp and hop aboard the pirate ship used in Pirates of the Caribbean for a day (eight hours; buffet lunch included) or sunset tour (two hours). From $60 per person.
MUST HAVE GEAR
It’s best to wear something fitted for your bottom since the harness gear is sometimes uncomfortable over loose clothing. Try lululemon’s Groove Crop II, $79, Laughing Buddah, 704-362-3311
