Free Range, Wooden Robot celebrating two-year anniversaries this weekend

–It’s been two years since Free Range Brewing finally found its space for a brewery after looking for a while. The NoDa neighborhood has made a nice home for Free Range’s easy-drinking beers and ever-changing taplist. The brewery with the rustic tractor out front is throwing a two-year anniversary party this Saturday beginning at noon complete with a ton of beer, live music and other festivities.
Admission is $10, which gets you a special customized Free Range anniversary glass along with two drink tokens. You can purchase additional tokens for $2 each. One token is good for a half-pour, while two tokens gets you a full pour. As for the beer, Free Range will be tapping several new beers along with bringing back some fan favorites. Also look for guest taps from Burial, Fonta Flora, Fullsteam, New Belgium and Salud Cerveceria (there will be no crowler fills on any beer Saturday).
From 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. the brewery will host three live acts: Jack Lawrence and Patrick Crouch, Adam Musick and Boy Named Banjo. As far as food goes, Farmhouse BBQ, Your Mom’s Donuts and My Sausage Buddy will all be onsite. Free Range will also have a farmer’s and arts market at the brewery from noon to 4 p.m. and Charlotte Creative re:use will be in the brewery’s kids area from noon to 3 p.m.
–Over in South End, Wooden Robot is also ringing in two years of making great local beer Saturday with Bash at the Bot! Doors open at noon, and admission for this event is also $10. You’ll get a limited edition anniversary glass with your purchase, and beers will be available for $5 each (beer tickets will be sold to cut down on lines at the taproom).
Among the beer that will be available includes two of Wooden Robot’s most recent bottle releases, Galactic Nexus and Thicket as Thieves, along with Berry Dark Sour, Mango vs. Wild and Sol Mates. These will all be on tap along with the brewery’s regular lineup (yes, that includes Good Morning Vietnam).
Wooden Robot’s onsite kitchen, Twisted Eats, has put together a special menu for the anniversary party that features smoked salmon tacos, spiked watermelon and beef sticks and an “oink & moo” burger that is made of porterhouse and brisket blend topped with beer-braised pulled pork, “boozy” barbecue sauce, roasted tomato and garlic herbed cheese. Drink tickets can be used for food items, and Twisted Eats is also accepting cash or credit card for purchasing of items.
