It will be a little easier to visit many of Charlotte’s breweries and cideries this Saturday, thanks to a special deal from Lyft.
The rideshare company was recently announced as the official partner of the Charlotte Independent Brewers Alliance (CIBA), and to celebrate the partnership, you can get $5 off a ride to and from CIBA breweries and cideries all day Saturday (July 7) by using the promotional code RIDESONTAPCLT.
“We really enjoy and appreciate the craft beer scene here,” says Lauren Pelletier, the Charlotte market manager for Lyft. “We had approached CIBA earlier in the year, as we both share a commitment to responsible transportation. Obviously the craft breweries are a high-use case for us, so we wanted to talk to them about ideas we had specific to the market and what would work best for them. We had a great conversation and discussion and are happy to promote rideshares where Charlotteans can easily engage with local breweries and cideries.”
CIBA was officially formed late last year “to promote and protect the interests of independent craft brewers founded in and whose primary manufacturing operations are based in Mecklenburg or its contiguous counties,” according to the association. There are 14 breweries participating in the “Rides on Tap” event Saturday, and there will also be limited edition pint glasses available at each brewery or cidery.
The breweries and cideries are as follows: Birdsong, Blue Blaze, Bold Missy, Free Range, Good Road Ciderworks, Legion, NoDa, Olde Mecklenburg, Red Clay Ciderworks, Salud Cerveceria, Thirsty Nomad, Triple C, Unknown and Wooden Robot.
Pelletier says the partnership announcement “made perfect sense” with many taking a long holiday weekend.
“July 4 is an obvious opportunity to serve as a platform and raise greater awareness of responsible transportation,” she added. “People are already very aware of the message; and we wanted to leverage the conversation to help support the story.”
As part of the partnership, Lyft will also offer CIBA members special coupon codes for new riders along with a number of credits that the breweries and cideries can use to their discretion to get either guests or employees home safely. Also look for future special partnerships, whether it’s based around a holiday or event, such as the JJ Grey and Mofro concert at NoDa two weeks ago, where Lyft riders also got a discount to and from the brewery.
“There are a lot of opportunities moving forward,” Pelletier says. “We are excited to help support the craft beer community here on a deeper level.”
